Frequently asked questions...

Do I need to get planning or approval from my energy provider?

Systems with an output of less than 3.68 kWh are usually pre-approved for connection to the grid. This means that things will move a whole lot quicker in terms of paperwork and installation.

If you have a larger system in mind, we can apply for permission on your behalf. It can take a few months though and is not always granted, so it's best to get on the case sooner, rather than later, if you are thinking of going large!

What is the maximum number of panels I can have?

There isn't really a set answer to this question, because it depends on roof space, inverter size etc. We suggest you ring us so that we can undertake a site survey to find out what your requirements are.

We can then talk you through the design and other components like batteries and diverter technology.

Large systems need pre-approval which can take a long time, so it's best to plan ahead if you are thinking this is the way you'd like to go.

How is a battery system better than just solar on it's own?

We love a battery system and could waffle on about them all day about long.

However, each property is different and so are the needs of the household and this makes this it a tricky question to answer.

One thing we do know, is that the cost of energy is going up and batteries do make alot of sense when it comes to saving money - why? Because rather than sending your excess power back to the grid for very little return, a battery will store it instead, that way you can use your own stored energy, when the sun goes down for FREE.

Rings us to discuss it more.

Are you VAT registered?

We are VAT registered but Solar Panels and Battery Systems are available to buy VAT free if you are a domestic customer. Give us a call to talk more about the savings you can make on your system.

How much will I save on my energy bills?

On average, a solar battery system saves the typical house £219 per year. It also cuts your carbon footprint by 0.42 tonnes per year.

We can give you a better idea of what savings you will make after we have surveyed your property. We issue a Performance Report as part of our service so you can know right where you stand in terms of saving money.

My house has shading or doesn't face South. Is it worth having a system?

We work carefully at the design phase to make sure that shading is considered and we use software to figure out the best placement to get the best results.

As far as the south facing rule is concerned, it's true that south is king, but there are other options available such as splitting across the roof. Our nifty software can help with this too!

We can guide you through this process after completing a site survey, ring us to chat more.

Do you offer a warranty on your workmanship?

Yes we do. We offer a written guarantee for our work which is backed up by an Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) for either 2, 5 or 10 years.

These are included for free of charge.

Do you hold MCS Certification?

We certainly are!

We will register your installation on the MCS Database and this will enable you to claim SEG Payments from your energy provider.

We are also a member of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) and we are registered with QANW  - this gives us the ability to offer Insurance Backed Guarantees to our renewable customers in addition to our workmanship warranty.
